A cold shooting second half spelled defeat for the Troy Trojans boys basketball team Tuesday against Eureka.
Troy led 29-28 at halftime, but the Lions opened a 10-point lead when they outscored the Trojans 16-5 in the third quarter. When it was all said and done, Troy lost 61-46.
The 46 points was a season low for Troy as the Trojans (7-4) lost their second straight game.
Early in the third, Eureka senior Rowan Burow was fouled shooting a 3-pointer. He hit all three free throws to give the Lions a 33-31 lead they never lost.
The Trojans had plenty of shot attempts, but most of them were off the mark. Senior Carson Orr led Troy with 18 points. Fellow seniors Nolan Morris and Thomas Guinard each scored nine points while Emerson Downey scored eight.
Last week against two quality opponents, Troy beat Thompson Falls and fell to St. Regis.
Thursday, the Trojans hosted Thompson Falls and scored a 63-48 win.
The Trojans jumped out to a 23-6 first quarter lead. Orr and Thomas Guinard each scored 19 points to pace Troy.
Saturday, at Class C power St. Regis, the Trojans fell, 69-60. Carson Orr scored a team-high 29 points while Thomas Guinard scored 14 and Emerson Downey had eight points.
The Trojans are set to host Plains Friday before traveling to Charlo Saturday.
