The Troy girls basketball team split a busy weekend, dropping a league contest to Thompson Falls before bouncing back with a narrow road win at St. Regis to move to 5–5 on the season.

Thursday, Jan. 22, the Trojans fell 71–39 at home to Thompson Falls Blue Hawks in a Western 7B league matchup. Thompson Falls built a 24–14 lead after the first quarter and continued to pull away, holding Troy to just four points in the third period.

Aspen Orr led Troy with nine points, while Hailey Dungan added eight. Kirsti Jellesed scored six points and Nautika Larson and Olivia Hall chipped in five apiece.

The Trojans responded Saturday, Jan. 24, with a dramatic 58–57 non-conference win on the road against St. Regis Tigers. Troy led 34–30 at halftime and held off a late Tigers rally to secure the one-point victory.

Orr poured in a game-high 21 points to lead Troy, scoring in every quarter and providing the difference down the stretch. Dungan finished with nine points, while Larson and Hall each added eight. Ainsley Huitron scored seven points, and Jellesed added five.

The Lady Trojans hosted Eureka Tuesday and fell, 66-44. The Lady Lions took a 6-0 lead before Troy rallied and tied the game at 10-10 when Halley Dungan's excellent pass on a fast break led to a layup for Orr. Dungan scored five points in the spurt.

But Eureka scored the last five points of the first quarter for a 15-10 lead they never relinquished. The Lady Trojans missed six straight free throws in the final two minutes of the first.

Troy was still within five points, 19-14, after Ainsley Huitron's basket 90 seconds into the second quarter. But Eureka used an 8-2 run to make it an 11-point game, 27-16.

The Lady Lions used an 8-0 run in the final three minutes of the first half to build a 15-point halftime lead, 35-20.

Troy hosts Plains at 3 p.m. Friday. Saturday, they travel to Charlo.

Troy sit at 5–6 overall.
