Bravettes 2nd at Hellgate Mixer, Kay claims 130 title

MISSOULA — Flathead’s Julia Kay pinned Glacier’s Kylie Shine to claim the 130-pound title at the Hellgate girls mixer Saturday as the Bravette Brawlers claimed a second-place finish in the team standings.
Billings Senior took home the team title with 238, Flathead finished at 164 with Helena Capital in third at 137.5. Senior finished the event with seven champions.
Joining Kay on the podium were Gracie Tryon (125), Kiera Lackey (135) and Haley Wilson (145), who all finished second. Elisa Bernabe was third at 135.
Flathead also had two fifth placers and three sixth placers.
Shine took home the best individual finish for the Wolfpack with a second place at 130.
Katelyn Sphuler was third at 100 pounds, while Adalyn Cummings (130) and Kiera Oftedahl (100) finished fourth. Kassidy Lingle and Stella Colley also placed for the Wolfpack.
Glacier finished 10th in the team standings with 74 points.
The event featured 14 AA teams with the state wrestling tournaments just three weeks away.
