Girls roundup: Polson gets landmark win

POLSON — Aleysia Black and Olicia Ramirez scored 12 points each and Polson defeated Browning at home for the first time since 1983, 52-45 in a Northwest A girls basketball matchup Saturday.

Hindley Moss added 10 for the Lady Pirates (8-4 overall, 4-2 in Northwest A games), who outscored Browning 16-11 in the final quarter. Rylee Taylor-Jefferson tallied nine. 

Polson went 12-for-14 in the final quarter to seal the victory. 

Josephine Michael led the Indians (5-8, 3-4 in conference) with 17 points.

RONAN — Nefertiti Stewart scored 19 points and Ronan used a big second quarter to pull away from Libby in Northwest A girls basketball. 

Maddy Illig added 12 for the Maidens (3-9, 2-5 in conference), who outscored the Loggers (2-11, 0-7 in conference) 16-6 in the second frame to take a 10-point lead into halftime, 28-18.  

Rylee Delmas led Libby with 19 points, Hadleigh Wood added seven.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Mason Quinn scored 24 points, 14 in the second half as Frenchtown pushed away for a non-conference win over Columbia Falls. 

Quinn scored nine points in the fourth quarter for the Southwest A Broncs (11-2). 

Onnika Lawrence scored 11 to lead the Northwest A Wildcats (6-6); teammate Alex Friske hit a pair of 3-pointers and added 10.
