PREP WRESTLING: Vikings send nine to semis at North Idaho Rumble

• BOYS

COEUR d’ALENE — Tournament host Coeur d’Alene, with nine semifinals, leads with 139.5 points after the first day of the 16th annual North Idaho Rumble at Coeur d’Alene High. 

Micah Miller (98 pounds), Dylan Coulson (106), Rocco White (113), Nash Larsen (120), Justus Peregrina (120), Tanner George (132), Trevor Edwards (138), Carter Newby (150), Riley Berger (175) and Brock Armstrong (190) advanced for the Vikings, who lead Post Falls by 15 points. 

Tristan Mendenhall (106), Gage Loftin (113), Logan Loaiza (120), Ryker Allen (126), Matthew Hamilton (132), Colton Austin (157), Landon Moore (190) and Zane Smith (215) advanced for the Trojans, who have claimed the team title in 12 of the 15 years of the tournament. 

Bryan Patrick (98), Cruz Knopp (106), Colby Adams (113), Carson Leonard (120), Kalab Hammer (157) and Emmit Rivadeneira (215) advanced for Lakeland, which is third with 109 points. 

Wrestling resumes today at 9 a.m., with championship finals tentatively scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Katie Rippentrop won by pin 1:05 into her match at 170 pounds, one of three pins by the Timberwolves in a dual win over the Thunder at Lake City High. 

Sophomore Poppy Schenk (145 pounds) and senior Aspen Kiser (145) also had pins for Lake City. 

Lake City hosts the girls North Idaho Rumble today starting at 9:30 a.m.
