The Bigfork Summer Playhouse presents the final mainstage production of its 2026 summer season, "Mean Girls," opening Wednesday, July 8, at p.m. Based on the iconic hit film, this hilarious, high-energy Broadway musical brings all the sharp wit, unforgettable characters, and laugh-out-loud moments audiences know and love.

Packed with catchy songs, dazzling choreography, and a heartfelt message about friendship, identity, and finding your place, Mean Girls is a wildly entertaining night at the theatre for teens, adults, and anyone who's ever survived high school.

New student Cady Heron has spent her life growing up in Africa — so navigating the wild social jungle of an American high school proves to be a challenge unlike any she's ever faced. When she's welcomed into the elite clique known as "the plastics," Cady quickly learns that popularity comes with a price. As she gets caught up in the world of gossip, rivalries, and social status, she'll have to decide who she really wants to be before everything comes crashing down.

Featuring a contemporary pop score, fast-paced comedy, and Broadway-caliber performances, Mean Girls has become one of the most popular musicals of the last decade. Filled with memorable one-liners, colorful characters, and moments that are both hilarious and surprisingly touching, the show reminds us that kindness never goes out of style.

"Mean Girls is smart, funny, energetic, and incredibly relatable," said Producer Brach Thomson. "Whether you grew up with the movie or are seeing the story for the first time, audiences will recognize these characters and leave with huge smiles on their faces."

Mean Girls joins an outstanding season that includes "Newsies," "Young Frankenstein," "The Music Man," and the fan-favorite "Hits of the '50s, '60s, '70s & '80s." Performed in repertory, audiences can enjoy a different Broadway musical nearly every evening throughout the summer.

Performances continue in rotating repertory through Aug. 23 at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are available online or by calling the Bigfork Summer Playhouse Box Office at 406-837-4886. The box office is open daily beginning at noon.
