From Coeur d‘Alene to Deer Park, the North softball team, including players from Thompson Falls, Noxon, Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, travels well, and have continued tearing up the basepaths at tournaments since the high school season ended.
Jared Koskela, the Thompson Falls-Noxon high school head coach who is an assistant for the North, accompanied the team to Deer Park, Wash., for the Dirty Bird 14U tourney last weekend after doing likewise for a tournament in Coeur d’Alene the week before. The North won their way to the championship game before settling for second place in the Dirty Bird.
Koskela said rising TF-N freshman pitcher Kaydence Pavlik threw a three-inning no hitter to key an 18-0 win over a team called the Villains in the semifinals Saturday.
Pavlik helped her own cause in that game with a base hit, three runs scored and three runs driven in to lead the Hawk offense, besides striking out seven while allowing no hits from the circle.
Jazzy Thompson and Nina Cardin added three RBI apiece, Brielle MacArthur two, and Aliyah Falck and Aubrey Bethke one each. MacArthur, Spencer Wilson, Cardin, Bella Danish, Jorden Turner and Bethke scored two runs apiece.
Angela Koskela and Bentlee Anderson scored a run each in the big win.
In another previously unreported game in the Coeur d’Alene 14U tourney the week before the North defeated the Whitefish Lady A’s 11-5
Pavlik singled, doubled and drove in two runs in that game, Sydnie Eichert went three for three with three runs scored and an RBI, Danish and Wilson had two hits and an RBI apiece, Angela Koskela hit a triple, drove in a run and scored a run, Thompson and Kaylie Mercer added a hit a run and an RBI each, and Nevaeh Christensen a hit and a run.
Laynie Eichert also scored a run for the North against the A’s.
Busy up to now, the North does not have any games scheduled for the Fourth of July weekend coming up.
Former Blue Hawk player Sarah Koskela, a two-time All-State B-C player for Thompson Falls-Noxon, played on the North 18U team in Deer Park last weekend.
THE NORTH ALL-STARS continued their busy summer softball campaign by winning second place in the Dirty Bird 14U tournament in Deer Park, Wash., last weekend.
