Gordon G. Conkle, 100

Gordon G. Conkle, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the Montana Veteran’s Home in Columbia Falls, Montana.

Gordon was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and served in the Navy during World War II, where he learned his trade as a sheet metal fabricator for commercial heating and cooling systems. He continued working in sheet metal fabrication while he and his wife, Avice, raised their five children in Roseburg, Oregon. 

After retirement, Gordon and Avice began a successful real estate investment business, where Gordon used his skills to remodel properties.  He also continued his lifelong interest in hunting and fishing.  For a while, he and his sons owned and operated a commercial fishing boat on the Oregon coast.

For the last four years, Gordon has lived comfortably at the Montana Veterans’ Home in Columbia Falls where received expert and loving care.

Gordon was known for his generosity and was loved by all his family.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Avice Conkle, his daughter, Marlene Conkle King, and his son, Dwight Conkle.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Pete Elster, his son, Dennis Conkle, his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Patti Conkle, his son-in-law Mike King and his daughter-in-law, Wyonia Conkle.

Gordon will join his wife, Avice, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
