Howard passed away June 26, 2026, at Hospice House surrounded by family and friends.
He was born May 31, 1934, to Andrew and Minnie Keller. He had one brother, George, and one sister, Helen Jean. Howard attended school in Swanton, Ohio, and married Carol Kunz; they had one daughter, Debbie Ann. He moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1973, where he eventually met and married Josephine (José) Smith, expanding the family with two stepdaughters, Tracey Dawn and Heidi Jean. They were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife José , daughters Debbie Pain, Tracey Hubbard (spouse Charlie), and Heidi Vanderhoef (spouse David), seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Per Howard's wishes, no formal service will be held. He will be interred in the future in Coeur d'Alene.
