NEWPORT — Step back in time for an unforgettable evening of laughter, music, and old-fashioned entertainment as Northwoods Performing Arts presents “The Comedy Radio Variety Show”, directed by Robyn Adams-Young.

The show will be held at the Circle Moon Theater in mid-July.

Whether you grew up listening to old-time radio or simply enjoy clever comedy and live entertainment, Northwoods Performing Arts officials said the show offers something for everyone.

Inspired by the warmth of “A Prairie Home Companion” and the golden age of live radio broadcasts, show officials said the original production combines hilarious comedy sketches, toe-tapping music, audience interaction, outrageous commercials, sound effects, and memorable characters into a fast-paced evening the entire family will enjoy.

Broadcast live from the fictional studios of KLAF 75.3, audiences will meet a delightfully eccentric cast of performers as the evening unfolds with everything from soap operas and cowboy poetry to classic radio-style commercials, unforgettable songs, mysterious missing goats, and plenty of laughter along the way.

Performances will be held Thursday, July 16; Friday, July 17; and Saturday, July 18. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the current rises promptly at 7 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the show is $35 per person for adults or $14 for the show only. Tickets for seniors and youth are $12 for the show.

On Thursday, July 16, dinner will be provided by HooRay’s Catering featuring pork cutlets. On Friday, July 17, dinner will be provided by Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant featuring chicken fajitas. On Saturday, July 18, dinner will be provided by Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant featuring beef enchiladas.

For tickets and reservations, go online to NorthwoodsPerformingArts.com, call 208-448-1294; or stop by Seeber’s Pharmacy, 336 S Washington Ave., in Newport, Washington.

Circle Moon Theater is located at 3645 Highway 211, 3 1/2 miles north of Highway 2.

“Gather your family, invite your friends, and join us for an evening filled with music, laughter, and the timeless charm of live radio,” said Alice Booth of Northwoods Performing Arts. “You’ll leave smiling — and perhaps wondering whatever became of Gerald the goat.”
