Fire officials with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire have restricted debris burning (outdoor burning) for fire season, starting July 1, on the Flathead Reservation.
Open debris burning will resume after fire season, typically Oct. 1.
“Prevention is critical for the safety of our communities, responders and forests,” stressed Fire Management Specialist C.T. Camel in a press release.
He advises people who burned this spring to check on their piles to make sure they are fully extinguished. “While there are no restrictions at this time, we urge people to be careful with campfires and check for restrictions before recreating in the outdoors,” he added.
