The end of the school year marked the end of several remarkable careers in education and public service, Boundary County School District officials said.
"Retirement is often a bittersweet milestone, both for those retiring and for the students, families, coworkers and community members touched by these incredible individuals," BCSD officials said in a press release.
This year, the district said goodbye to Jerry Jimenez, maintenance at Boundary County Middle School; Teri Roney, teacher at Valley View Elementary; Pam Copeland, administrative assistant at Valley View Elementary; Kristi Wilson at the District Office; and Cynthia Stovall-Sanders, special education director and teacher at Boundary County Middle School. The combined years of service for the retirees is 105.
"The knowledge, skills, talent and dedication will be difficult to replace," BCSD officials said.
At Valley View Elementary School, Pam Copeland retired after 27 years as an administrative assistant, and Teri Roney concluded a 21-year career serving students as a special education teacher.
At the district office, Kristi Wilson retired after 24 years of dedicated service managing district finances and “keeping the lights on.” Cynthia Sanders also retired after 18 years of service to the district, working both as special education director and as a special education teacher.
The maintenance and custodial department also said goodbye to Jerry Jimenez, who retires after 15 years of service.
“We are fortunate to have such wonderful and dedicated staff members serving our schools for so many years,” district officials said. “Their retirements will certainly leave an impact on our schools and students. They will be greatly missed, and we thank them for their years of service. We wish them all the best in retirement.”
BCSD officials said they hope that each of the retirees will stay in touch.
"We want to hear about their adventures," they said. "We were truly blessed by each one."
