Fourth celebrations throughout North Idaho

This year’s Fourth of July celebrations carry a greater significance as the nation commemorates America’s 250th birthday. 

The following events are slated throughout North Idaho: 

• Kiddie Parade | 10 a.m. July 2, 10th and Sherman, downtown Coeur d’Alene 

Free entry. No registration needed. Line up after 9:30 a.m. The theme is “Ode to Olympians” with three categories: wheels, floats and costumes. 

• America 250 — Kootenai County Courthouse 100th Anniversary | 1:30 p.m. July 3, east lawn of the Kootenai County courthouse, 451 Government Way 

This joint celebration between Kootenai County and the city of Coeur d’Alene will feature local government leaders, high school band performances and the dedication and placement of a 100-year time capsule. 

• Wallace Statehood Day Parade and Celebration | 5 p.m. July 3, downtown Wallace 

Before commemorating the nation’s 250th birthday, celebrate Idaho’s statehood. 

• American Heroes Parade | 10 a.m. to noon July 4, downtown Coeur d’Alene 

This year’s theme is “America 250: From Liberty to Legacy.” After the parade, find music, food, vendors and family-friendly activities in City Park. 

• Coeur d’Alene fireworks show | Dusk, July 4 

Take in a spectacular fireworks show over the lake. 

• Dalton Gardens picnic | 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. July 4, Newcomb Memorial Park, 6360 N. Fourth St. 

The day will begin with color guard, the Pledge of Allegiance and reflections on the meaning of freedom. Free picnic includes hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy and popcorn. Enjoy carnival games, horse rides, a bounce house, contests, prizes and more. 

• Spirit Lake parade | 11 a.m. July 4, downtown Spirit Lake 

Bring chairs and dress in patriotic colors for this small-town parade event. 

• Bayview Daze | 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., city of Bayview 

Partake in a red, white and blue pancake breakfast at the community center at 8 a.m. All funds benefit the Bayview Chamber of Commerce. The parade on Main Street begins at 11 a.m., with the Timberlake Fire District having water gun fights along the parade route. Vendors will be downtown. Enjoy a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. 

• Fourth of July in Harrison | Noon on July 4, Harrison City Park 

Craft and food vendors in the park from noon to 6 p.m. Free family activities and watermelon-eating contest. Gigawatt, a 1980s tribute band, will perform at 5 p.m. Fireworks begin at dusk. 

• Fourth of July in Kellogg | 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4, city of Kellogg 

A full day of free activities, including a 5K run, horseshoe tournament, parade and pool party. Jackass 5K begins at 8 a.m. at the city pool parking lot. Horseshoe tournament at noon. Kids bike parade begins at Silver Mountain at 1:15 p.m. Fourth of July parade begins at 2 p.m. Line up at 1 p.m. No preregistration required. Family movie showing of “Super Mario Galaxy” in the city park’s baseball field at dusk. Fireworks at Silver Mountain at 10 p.m. 

• Fourth of July in Clark Fork | 7 a.m. to dusk. 

The day starts with the 14th annual Freedom Fun Run 5K at 7 a.m. Parade at 9:30. Family foot races will occur in the schoolyard at 10:15 a.m., with food, vendors and activities. Turtle races, a watermelon eating contest and the annual log sawing competition are on tap in the afternoon. Fireworks will conclude the celebration.

• Fourth of July in Priest River | 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Activities will take place downtown starting at 11 a.m. and running until about 5 p.m. with vendors and game booths. In addition, All Star Jump will be running mechanical bull and jousting activities. It will include a foam street party, plastic ax throwing, a giant Connect 4 game, snow cones and a "Minute to Win It" game. A fireworks show will take place at Bonner Park West at 10 p.m. 

• Fourth of July in Sandpoint | 9:30 a.m. to dusk

The Kids Parade kicks off the fun and starts at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., it's time for the Grand Parade. The Lions will host a carnival at City Beach immediately afterward. A beer garden and food vendors will be at City Beach. A fireworks show at dusk wraps things up.

• Priest Lake Fireworks. Launched from the shore near Elkins Resort at dusk.
