ISP investigating Wednesday crash

ELMIRA — Idaho State Patrol are currently investigating a two-vehicle collision on Highway 95 Wednesday near Elmira, which resulted in 12 injured patients.
At approximately 2:09 p.m., a Ford Transit van, driven by a 29-year-old from Naples entered U.S. Highway 95 near milepost 490 and was struck by a Chevy Express van, driven by a 34-year-old male from Usk, Wash., and transporting 10 passengers.
The Chevy Express van, according to officials at Bonner General Health, included individuals from a youth summer program who were traveling on a field trip near the Kootenai Falls. Inside the van was one adult chaperone, one junior high mentor and 10 youth participants.
Of the 13 individuals involved in the wreck, Bonner General Health received 12 patients — 11 from the youth program and the driver of the Ford Transit.
One patient was airlifted directly from the scene.
Bonner County Emergency Management officials shared to Facebook that patients were transported to Bonner General Health and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center Children’s Emergency Department in Spokane for continued care.
The investigation is currently ongoing and, to protect the privacy of the individuals involved, no names have been released at the time of publishing.
