100 Years Ago

Dick Meyers, BFHS student has won the Underwood Typewriter company's highest award- a diamond medal. He is the 3rd high school student to win the medal.

The failure of the F.W. Anderson Mortgage and Investment Company of Spokane was directly responsible for the closing of the First State Bank of Bonners Ferry last Tuesday.

The first women's vacation camp will be held at Twin Lakes in Kootenai Co. The cost of the three day camp will be $1, which will include the cabin and bed.


50 Years Ago

A simultaneous, nationwide ringing of bells on July 4 will herald the country's entrance into its third century.

The new Boundary County Community Restorium and the Community Hospital and Boundary County Nursing Home will hold a jointly sponsored Open House on Sunday afternoon.

Bonners Ferry Police Chief Don Hamilton reported this week that local police recovered from the Kootenai River two rifles which were stolen some time ago from the home of Bill Blume. The guns were recovered by Patrolman Joe Gere on a tip.

The Idaho Forest Products Commission has started the Idaho Forest Foundation in the Idaho Community Foundation to support programs and projects that educate Idaho citizens about the state's forest and forest products industry.

Bonners Ferry residents on the North Hill are on high alert after a cougar was spotted in Jim Marx's driveway Thursday morning.

The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club celebrated its ninth anniversary on June 17.
