There were many new faces as well as plenty of familiar winners last weekend at Libby’s Millpond Motocross Park.

The all volunteer operation, running races since 2003, saw a deeper field of competition in many races. Racers came from Northwest Montana, Idaho, Washington and Canada.

"We are so thankful to all of our volunteers, sponsors and riders for their support and hard work," event organizer Jenn Remp said.

The 50cc race, ages 0-6, had 17 competitors, with 16 finishers, while the 50cc race, 7-8, had 11 entries and 10 finishers. The 50cc open race had 14, 85cc had 12, the 250 junior had 11, including 10 who finished, and the pit bike had nine entries.

Remp explained the scheduled the race for a weekend when there weren't a lot of other races scheduled and it helped improve the numbers in several races.

"We've never had that many registered in some of the races before, so it was very exciting, especially for some of the events with the younger kids," Remp said.

Several locals won races in last Saturday’s event. Libby had eight winners in the 17 events, led by Westin Remp's triple win weekend. Remp took the school boy, 250 junior and 450 junior class races.

In the 250 and 450 beginner races, Libby’s Mason Bache was the winner.

Libby’s Alli Clemons claimed the supermini race while Libby’s Skyler Higareda won the veteran 30-plus race.

Another Libby racer, Sidney Clemons, won the women’s race, followed by Alli Clemons. Sidney added a third in the 450 junior.

Libby’s Bridger Bache was second in the 450 beginner and third in the 250 beginner. Libby’s Parker Bache was second in the 250 junior and 450 junior.

Libby’s Cash Remp was second in the 85cc and supermini. Troy’s Derrick Hobson was fifth in the 450 junior race. Teagan Wolfe was third in the 50cc 7-8 age group and fifth in the 50 cc open race. Drake Higareda was 12th in the 50cc 0-6 age class.

Here’s a brief look at the other winners in each class.

Washington state’s Cooper Jurin claimed the 50cc, 0-6 age class while his dad, Collin, claimed the 250 pro race.

Kalispell’s Barrett Nygren won the 50cc, 7-8 age class. Columbia Falls’ Hayes Freese won the 50cc open event.

In the 65cc and 85cc classes, Elk, Washington’s Daren Kamstra was the winner.

Plains’ Harley Sturdivant won the 250 intermediate race while Kalispell’s Colby Clemons won the 450 intermediate. In the 450 pro, Spokane’s Braden Spangle was the winner, followed by Collin Jurin and Libby’s Andy Remp.

In the pit bike race, held during the intermission, Bonners Ferry, Idaho’s Dylan Hittle claimed the win.
