Roy Arnold Corneliuson, 78, passed away unexpectedly while surrounded by his loving family on June 27, in Kalispell-his 78th birthday.
Roy was born on June 27, 1948, in Kalispell, Montana, to Ella and Royal Corneliuson. He married the love of his life, Janice Fern Graves, on December 10, 1965, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice Corneliuson; his daughters, Michelle "Mick" (Blair) Bohn and Amy Greene; his grandchildren, Ashley Gullo (Allen), Brittany Greene (Joe), Cerise Greene (Caleb), and Hazen (Sydney) Bohn; and his great-grandchildren, Brecken Davis, Selah Tkatchyk, and Kallie Davis.
Roy is also survived by his siblings, Wesley Monroe, Terri Winchester, and Royleen Hard; his stepsiblings, Barbara Johnson, Kathy Ferris, and Johnny Englebritson; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Royal Corneliuson; his infant brother, Charlie; his siblings, Edna Mae Naldrett, JoAnn Turner, Ella Faye Wetzel, Hugh Monroe, Clem Monroe, Delores Monroe, Robert Jackson, and June Taylor; and his stepsiblings, David Englebritson and Doris Moran.
He graduated from Flathead High School in 1966. Shortly after, Roy and Janice moved to Washington, where Roy worked at Boeing and later as a grocery store manager for QFC in Seattle. Missing Montana, they eventually returned to Eureka, where Roy worked for his father-in-law, Frank Graves, at Graves Logging before spending many years with Stoken Logging. He loved his work and even after retirement, he continued hauling because it was something he truly loved.
Roy was known for being kind, generous, dependable, and hardworking. Whenever someone needed help, Roy was always there. He had a gift for fixing almost anything and loved spending time in his garage repairing, building, and tinkering. He had a lifelong appreciation for classic vehicles and cherished time spent with his family at the lake cabin.
Roy loved the outdoors and was an excellent swimmer and diver. He proudly served on the Eureka Public School Board, served as a volunteer baseball coach, and participated in the Great Northwest Log Haul in 1988. Nothing brought him more joy than attending his children's and grandchildren's school events, where he was always their biggest supporter.
Whether family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers needed advice or a helping hand, Roy always seemed to have practical advice to offer, often beginning with his signature phrase, "A guy could..." Those three simple words became a comforting hallmark of his wisdom, practical knowledge, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Roy's greatest legacy is the family he helped create and the countless lives he touched. His steady presence, gentle wisdom, generous heart, and quiet strength will never be forgotten. He showed his love through his actions, his work, and his unwavering devotion to his family.
Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years we shared with him. His memory will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Graveside services will be held at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka, Montana on Monday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided at The First Baptist Church immediately following.
