Victor 'Vic' Leroy Overman, 83

Victor “Vic” Leroy Overman, 83, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away June 25, 2026, at the home of his son in Post Falls, Idaho. Victor was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Casper, Wyo., one of the 11 Clabaugh and Overman children of the late Lee and Frances (Hunt) Overman family. 

The family moved from Nebraska and Wyoming to Wallace, Idaho, when Victor was 7 years old. Vic always remembered being a “pin monkey” at the bowling alley in Wallace when he was 8. He attended schools in Wallace and enlisted briefly in the U.S. Navy. He married Jean Chilson on June 14, 1963, in Burke, Idaho. Jean later passed away in 1993. 

Vic was a hard rock miner and worked for various mines in the Silver Valley, including the Dayrock, Star and Lucky Friday mines. An avid outdoorsman, Vic enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cutting firewood. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Jean, Vic is preceded in death by his siblings, Vern, Margaret, Linny, Eleanor, Inez, Donald, Leona, Patrica and Ernest; a daughter, Sandra Torix; a son-in-law, Brian Miller; and his two partners, Susan O’Shea and Josephine Luhr. 

Survivors include his three children, David (Sherry) Overman of Post Falls, Idaho; Allen Overman (Shane Kalamarski) of Spokane, Wash., and Susan Overman of Mullan, Idaho; ten grandchildren, Rhiannon Overman, Jennessa Overman, Jadynn Overman, Alexander Overman, Meghann Miller, Bryan Miller, Jarred Miller, Sterling Overman, Kevin Miller and Nathan Miller; five great-grandchildren, Cabella Radan, Elyssia Radan, Hollye Robison, Lucy Robison and Juniper Overman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In lieu of flowers and cards, Vic’s family requests that a donation in his memory be made to the Vic Overman Memorial Fund for the Idaho Conservation Officers Association Mark Hill Youth Conservation Camp www.castforkids.org. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, Idaho. Interment will follow services at Day Cemetery, Osburn, Idaho, followed by a Celebration of Life at the East Pavilion in Gene Day Park in Osburn, Idaho.
