AA Lakers take two from Medicine Hat

Dillon Wink took one for the team and the win as Kalispell defeated Medicine Hat 6-5 in the first game of a Legion baseball doubleheader Friday at Griffin Field.

In game two, Kalispell got a strong performance on the mound from Max Schara to take a 7-2 victory. 

Tied at five, Hunter Fann reached on an error to put one aboard in the seventh, Beau Schulz was hit by a pitch and an intentional walk to Brady Buckmaster loaded the bases for Wink. He was hit by a 2-0 pitch to send in the winning run. 

Miles Arrowsmith had a hit and two RBIs for Kalispell as the six through nine in the lineup drove in five runs. 

After the Moose Monarchs plated four in the first two innings, Kalispell responded in the bottom of the second. Liam Rech drove in one on a single to left, followed by an Arrowsmith triple that plated two. Teagan Dixon reach on an error as Arrowsmith came home to tied the game. 

Eli Coopman started and tossed two innings on the mound for the Lakers, allowing one hit and fanning one. George Schwan went five innings in relief, giving up three hits and one run. He sat down two. 

In game two, Schara went the distance allowing two late runs. He scattered eight hits and fanned six batters. 

Schulz accounted for five of the Lakers runs, driving in three and scoring twice. He had two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth inning. 

Schulz and Rech both hit RBI singles in the second inning to break the ice and give Kalispell a 2-0 lead. 

Micah Engle added another run on a single in the fourth to help the Lakers to a 5-0 advantage. 

Mason Heintz knocked in two runs in the seventh on a double for Medicine Hat, but Schara got Nixon Kunkel to pop out to end the game.
