Lakers, Mavericks split twin bill

Cameron Sharp had two hits and drove in a pair of runs as the Kalispell A Lakers took a 9-3 victory over the Missoula A Mavericks Friday in the first game of a Legion baseball doubleheader at Archie Roe Field. 


In game two, Missoula took an 11-3 decision to split the twin bill. 


Sharp and Lincoln St. Jean drove in runs in the first inning to help the Lakers take the lead 2-1. 


Sharp’s double in the second brought in another run as the Lakers put up five in the frame and seized a 7-1 advantage. 


Landen Jacobsen finished off the Lakers scoring with an RBI single to left in the third. 


A hit batsman brought in one for Missoula in the fifth and a sacrifice fly made it 9-3 in the seventh, but the Mavericks couldn’t get any closer. 


Madden Carrier went the distance on the mound for Kalispell, scattering seven hits and fanning three. 


In game two the Mavericks jumped ahead on an Alex Darnell RBI single in the first inning. Then extend the lead with two runs coming in on an error in the second before D Daniel made it 4-0 with a single to left. 


Sharp hit an RBI double to start a three-run second inning for Kalispell to pull within one. Wyatt Sharp and Carrier both added RBI singles in the frame. 


Missoula extended the lead back with a pair of bases loaded walks in the third to lead 6-3. The Mavericks added five more runs in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory. 


Josh Shepherd tossed all five innings for Missoula, allowing three runs on six hits. He fanned six.
