Ronald Lee Mason Sr., 86, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2026, at home in Rathdrum.

Ron was born to Lee “Bud” and Hazel Mason on Sept. 19, 1939, in Spokane, Wash. He was raised in St. Regis, Mont., and his high school nickname was ‘Ace.” Ron worked at Mason’s Corner pumping gas and changing tires as a young man. He attended the University of Montana and earned his forestry degree. He remained a Grizzly fan throughout his life.

Ron enlisted in the Air Force in 1961; he served as a Military Police Officer for four years. He often retold his many adventures from those years.

Ron met Juanita Foote in Coeur d’Alene, and they married in 1965. He worked at Bunker Hill in Kellogg and then in logging before starting Mason Logging in the 1970s. They raised their family of four boys in the Rathdrum area where he built their home.

Ron’s hobbies were coaching youth baseball teams, fishing (as part of the Angler’s Club and the Pend Oreille Club), and later gardening. After Ron’s first wife passed away, he married Lynda Breitkreutz.

We all love Ron Sr. He touched so many lives, and he will be dearly missed! We are thankful for his love, hard work, sense of humor and his generosity.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Doug; his first wife, Juanita; and his oldest son, Pat. Survivors include his wife, Lynda Mason (Breitkreutz); sons: Ron Jr., Jim, Jerry and their families; also, Lynda’s children: Bill, Sherrie, Tammie and their families. Ron had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him so much.

We are honoring his wishes for no service to be held.
