Margaret "Maggie" Cowan, 81, passed peacefully in her sleep on June 27 in Goodyear, Arizona.

Born April 25t 1945, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maggie spent much of her childhood in Illinois and California. She spent much of her adult life in Illinois, Arizona and Montana.

Maggie was known as a second mother to many —  always ready with a warm meal, fresh coffee, a listening ear, or a helping hand. Her home was a place where everyone was welcome and if you were "bored," she would happily put you to work. She loved cooking for family and friends, creating art, crocheting and "tinkering" on projects. She found joy in the outdoors, especially summers at Beaver Lake, Montana. She had a special fondness for frogs and owls.

She loved children and especially adored her 20-plus grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouses, Don Coffey and Winfield "Skip" Cowan; siblings Mary Ellen Taylor, Martha Alle and Michael Stowe.

She is survived by her children, Timothy Coffey, Christine Reed, Thomas Coffey, Donald Coffey and Phyllis "Annie" Cowan and her brother, Daniel Stowe.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 11, from 2-4 p.m. at a private residence: 42 Willow Dr., Kalispell. Please contact Annie at 602-828-3135 for additional information and to RSVP.
