Richard ‘Dick’ Scoggin

Richard “Dick” Scoggin, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026.

Dick was born on Scoggin Ridge in the Blue Mountains south of Pomeroy, Washington, on September 23, 1925 to Herman Scoggin and Jenny Weisner Scoggin. He attended school in a one-room school on Scoggin Ridge until high school, and then Pomeroy High School. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he became an electrician and later a research and development technician for Battelle NW.

Dick was a man of many talents from flying RC airplanes to making small furniture pieces. He could fix almost anything and was sometimes called “Mr. Fixit.”

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Roylene Watkins and daughters Deborah Dahlen (James) of Federal Way, Washington Lisa Duncan of Richland, Washington and Tamra Berg (Ken) of Sparks, Nevada; four grandchildren Tyson, Marisa, Lori, and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren Zach and Miette. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and daughter Lorilee.

A celebration of life will be held July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Warden Community Church. Memorials may be made to the Warden Community Church, Warden, Washington.
