Effie Jane Joe

Effie Jane Joe, 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her home in Ephrata, Washington, surrounded by her family and loved ones. 

Effie was born Nov. 17, 1954, in Pocatello, Idaho to George and Frances Harrell. She was one of nine children. Effie will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She touched many lives through her compassion, generosity, and ability to make those around her feel welcome and loved. Her greatest joy was spending time with family creating cherished memories, taking care of her plants, fishing, camping, and spontaneous road trips. 

Effie was preceded in death by her parents George and Frances Harrell, daughter Sada Joe, one sister, three brothers and several loved ones who welcomed her into eternal peace. 

Effie is survived by five of her six children: Angel Mckinney, four grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; Cammy Zabala, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Tony and Cindy Welsh, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Michelle Joe, two grandchildren; Sada Joe (deceased), granddaughter Maurisa and Isryal (Izzy) Joe-Flores; and Tonya Cook, five grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, two brothers, many extended family members and countless dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. 

Though our hearts are heavy with our loss, we find comfort in knowing that Effie’s love, wisdom, and spirit will always remain with us.

A celebration of Effie’s life will be held at a later date; details will be announced by the family.
