Briefs: Wilkins gets Red, White & Blue ace; Schara to OUAZ

BIGFORK — Bob Wilkins had his first ever hole-in-one Saturday, July 4, during the annual Red, White, & Blue tournament at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

Wilkins used a 6-iron from the blue to ace the Eagle No. 6, covering the 165 yards on the fly — a slam dunk.  

Kevin Keating, Dave Aborn and Jim Valentino witnessed his perfect shot. 

Bigfork’s Schara headed to OUAZ

Max Schara, a righthanded pitcher for the AA Kalispell Lakers, has committed to play baseball at Ottawa University in Surprise, Ariz., his father Park reported Tuesday. 

Schara helped the Bigfork Vikings win the State A baseball championship in late May, throwing a complete game in their 4-2 semifinal win over Frenchtown. 

This summer he has a 0.47 earned-run average with the Lakers.
