John D. "Jack" Johnson, 88

John D. “Jack” Johnson Sr., of Martin City, Montana, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by hard work and appreciation of the outdoors. Jack was born on April 9, 1938, in Roseau, Minnesota, to John T. and Emma Olson Johnson.
At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably for four years. Following his military service, Jack built a career that reflected his strong work ethic.
He spent 35 years working as a tallyman at Plum Creek.
He and his wife, Judy, shared 63 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Together they raised three sons: John Jr. (Carma), Jeffrey (Jenny), and Jim. He enjoyed time outdoors camping with family, hunting in the fall, or fishing on Montana’s waters.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Emma Johnson; his three brothers, Lawrence, Kenneth, and Buddy; and his brothers-in-law, Howard Fauley, Don Lietz, Bruce Ostby, Norm Beach, and Bobbie K. Beach. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy; his sons, John Jr. (Carma), Jeffrey (Jenny), and Jim; seven grandchildren: Brandi (Chris) Sinerius, Bill (Michonne) Johnson, Kaleb (Micinzie) Johnson, Chloe (Cody) Johnson, Jon Connor, Jesse, and Jillian Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Jack will be remembered for his quiet strength.
His legacy lives on in the family he left behind and the many lives he touched. He will be missed and lovingly remembered. The family would like to recognize Jack’s support of the Martin City Volunteer Fire Department.
In keeping with his wishes, memorial contributions may be made to the Martin City Volunteer Fire Department in lieu of flowers. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 10, at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for Jack’s family.
