SANDPOINT — After several rounds of interviews, the Bonner County commissioners have unanimously approved the appointment of Zach Spohn to the fair board, to serve out the remainder of a four-year term.
Spohn will begin his term July 7 through Jan. 15, 2029, finishing out the board position for Staci McBrayer, who resigned from the position after she was hired as Bonner County Fair manager in early May.
Commissioner Asia Williams did not vote on the appointment due to her absence during the fair board interviews, but thanked individuals who, while they weren’t chosen to sit on the board, continue to volunteer and assist in fairground operations.
“Even if you weren’t selected, that continued participation and involvement has been invaluable to the fair board. So, thank you to everyone,” Williams said.
Commissioners Brian Domke and Ron Korn each gave their appreciation as well for the individuals who applied for the position.
Domke noted that Spohn was chosen for appointment due to his financial background, something the fair board had specifically requested to assist with fiscal responsibilities.
Spohn currently works at Wildwood Grilling in Sandpoint as the company’s finance director and worked as an accountant prior to his tenure at Wildwood. He currently holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Montana.
Williams encourages applicants not to pull out their applications yet, as one more position remains vacant on the board. A decision on that vacancy is expected to be made after one final interview.
