Elks shut down AA Lakers

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta — Nate Conway Mulder had three hits and drove in two runs for the Lethbridge Elks in a 9-1 victory over the Kalispell AA Lakers in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday in Legion baseball.


Conway singled in the opening frame to score one as Lethbridge (20-6) plated four in the inning. The other three Elks runs came from two bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch. 


Kalispell (11-10) found its lone run in the top of the fifth as Liam Rech hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Beau Schulz. 


Conway capped off the victory for Lethbridge with another single in the sixth that scored Fawkes Bruinsma and made it a 9-1 ballgame. 


Daniel Kambeitz went three innings for Lethbridge, allowing one hit and fanning three batters. Jarret McNeill threw four innings in relief, scattering a pair of hits and allowing the one run. He sat down three batters and walked four. 


Eli Coopman tossed four innings for Kalispell, allowing six runs on five hits. He struck out three batters. 


George Schwan and Lincoln Fisher each threw one inning in relief.  


The second game was still ongoing at press time with Lethbridge leading 6-0 in the third inning.
