Flathead Valley kids take the stage in ‘Unstoppable!’

Last week, 10 Broadway professionals performed “The Great American Songbook” at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. This week, it’s the students’ turn.

On Thursday, July 9 at 7 p.m., the students of Alpine Theatre Project Broadway Summer Camp take the stage in “Unstoppable!” — a full musical production and the culmination of three weeks of intensive training in acting, singing, and dancing by working professionals from Broadway, national tours and television.

Since June 22, students in grades five through 12 from across the Flathead Valley have spent their days working side by side with Broadway artists. Every rehearsal, every dance combination, every note has been building to these two performances.

"These students have been rehearsing at a professional pace for three weeks, and they've risen to every challenge we've put in front of them," said Tracy McDowell, ATP artistic director. "When your teachers have stood on Broadway stages, you learn what's possible. Audiences are going to be amazed at what these young performers can do."

Alpine Theatre Project never turns a student away for financial reasons, and ticket sales directly support arts education in the Flathead Valley.
 

The show is at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, at 127 Spokane Ave., and tickets are $10 for students, $20 for adults, available at atpwhitefish.org/shows|.
