Bonners Ferry Herald | UPDATED 3 months, 4 weeks AGO
| July 9, 2026 1:00 AM

Once again, after three years heading up organizing/coordinating the placement of flags on deceased veterans' graves at Grandview Cemetery and the outlying rural cemeteries, I want to recognize and give shout-outs and thank yous to the groups and individuals whose assistance at Grandview (old and new side) was greatly appreciated.

Thanks go to Scouting America Troop 114 & Pack 114, with thanks to Scouts Ronny, Trevor, Fiona, Jace, Kimberly Owen, Nolan and Jack. Also, thanks go to Si Thompson, Tiffani Beggerly, Shalonda Miller, Amber Midgett and Carlos Perez.

Also, Selkirk Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol, leaders Damon & Dawn Therkildsen and the numerous CAP cadets in attendance.

Thank you also to BMCS leadership, Kelly Hinthorn, with students James Cederquist, Jace Hubbard, Pyper Thomson, Kyla Harmon, Braxtyn Nisson, Kenzie Arthur, Lauren Koerker, Abigail Michel and Jacaia Bistline.

I would also like to thank parent helper Tammy Blanford, Rick Maggi and his wife, Shawn Marshall, and Amy Bridges.

My fellow veterans Jeff Willard, Mark Barker and retired Navy Captain Kevin Ball also deserve thanks.

In closing, I'm coordinating with the museum to sponsor and conduct cemetery history walking tours this summer. Stay tuned for more information.

Once again, thank you all for supporting the recognition that our deceased veterans deserve.

If anyone is interested in cemetery maintenance projects, feel free to contact me at: [email protected].
