Robert Charles Utter II, known to everyone as Rick, passed away Dec. 5, 2025, in Quartzsite, Ariz., at the age of 76.
Rick and his wife, Kathy, were also longtime residents of Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Rick’s life was full of family, travels, and adventure. His careers included running a gas station, repairing vehicles, working as a sawmill heavy-equipment operator, and driving semi-trucks.
His passions were flying and square dancing. He learned to fly during his time in the U.S. Navy as a young man and later earned his pilot’s license in civilian life. Rick and Kathy loved square dancing and eventually became well known as callers and instructors as well — a passion that allowed them to travel all over the U.S. and Canada, making friends wherever they went.
Rick is survived by his wife, Kathy; sister Dawn; brother Bruce; his daughters, LaRinda (Kevin) and Jessica (Matthew); his stepchildren, Carrie (Matthew), Christiauna (Tracy) and Kevin (Susan); his grandchildren, Zoe, Trevor, Matthew Jr., Bryon, Brenden; Jaycee, Christian, Dylan; Jacob, Daniel and Katie; and nine great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life will be held in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at 513353 Highway 95 Bonners ferry, Idaho, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. Dinner to follow.
