The Pathfinders Monument will be unveiled next Monday. It is located adjoining the Great Northern Railway depot.
The State Bureau of Vital Statistics reported 368 deaths during the month ending June 30. There were 882 births.
The State Highway Dept. will be testing 2 different road surfaces. Oiling the road surface or tarvia for areas where the traffic is the heaviest. Oil surfacing costs $1,000 per mile and tarvia costs $3,500 per mile.

Bill Maas of the Department of Public Lands reported this week that a fire was caused in the Cow Creek area by a lightning strike. Little damage was reported.
A Bonners Ferry student at Eastern Washington State College, Margaret E. McNally, received perfect all -A grades and with Diane I. Dickison, Bonners Ferry, has been named to the EWSC spring quarter honor roll.
Boundary County Superintendent of Schools Nick Hallett reported this week that the State Department of Labor has finally given the district a preliminary go-ahead on the eight classroom addition at Valley View.

Boundary County Habitat for Humanity has purchased property in Bonners Ferry which will allow the organization to build up to seven homes.
The Bonners Ferry Police Department received a special grant from the Idaho Department of Highway Safety which allowed them to purchase a speed radar trailer.
Jan Rose, the biological science technician at Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, will introduce a class on the pollinators that live in North Idaho.
