SANDPOINT — After months of practice, White Pines Lacrosse will make their semi-professional debut with a two-game series against the Boise Bighorns in Spokane.
Based out of Sandpoint, the White Pines were created to grow the game of lacrosse in North Idaho, and the start of this team is another step in that journey, according to general manager Chad Cole.
"The team was created to continue growing the game of lacrosse in the region and provide competitive opportunities for players beyond high school and college," Cole said in a news release. "Fans can expect a fast-paced, physical style of lacrosse with the excitement of the indoor box game."
Competing in the Box Lacrosse League's Western Conference, the White Pines features players from across the Inland Northwest, including several Sandpoint athletes. As a part of the BLL's senior B league, the White Pines are scheduled to play three two-game series, with the first coming against the Bighorns.
The White Pines are set to play the Salt Lake Storm for two games in early August, before the Salt Lake Surge makes the trip up to Spokane a week later.
The games will be hosted at the Eagles Ice Arena in Spokane, with the team's first showdown with the Bighorns scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11. The following day at 11 a.m., the White Pines will face the Bighorns again at the barn.
Tickets range from $5-10 and can be bought at the door or by visiting showpass.com and searching for the North Idaho White Pines.
"Come support local athletes and be part of the continued growth and history of lacrosse in North Idaho," Cole said.
More information on the White Pines can be found on their social media accounts, and their schedule and standings can be found by visiting boxlacrosseleague.com/team/idaho-white-pines/.
