Angela Norene (Sheldon) Newburn, known as Angie, passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 41, at Hospice of North Idaho in Hayden, Idaho.

If there was a trip to plan, Angie was already packing. If there was a birthday to celebrate, she was already planning how to make it unforgettable. And if someone suggested doing something just for fun, she was already saying yes.

Angie was born on Sept. 3, 1984, in Madison, Wis., to William Sheldon and Cindie (Capparelli) Sheldon. She was named after her maternal grandmother, Norene Capparelli—a name she proudly carried while also joking from time to time about just how old-fashioned it sounded.

After graduating from Kenai High School in Kenai, Alaska, in 2003, Angie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho before receiving her Master of Social Work from Boise State University in 2009. Dedicated to her profession and those she served, she continued her advanced clinical training and later became a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).

For more than 13 years, Angela dedicated her career to serving others at Kootenai Health. She spent over 11 years as the Supervisor of Social Services in the Emergency Department and most recently served as an Outpatient Social Work Care Manager. While her family knew her as spontaneous and fun-loving, her coworkers knew her as an exceptional leader whose calm presence, organization, and sound judgment earned the respect of those around her. She was deeply admired for the compassion she showed patients, families, and her team. If you needed honest advice, Angie was the person you called.

Although Idaho became her home, Alaska always held a special place in Angie’s heart. The bond she shared with the friends she grew up with was one she carried with her throughout her life. Even as some found new homes across the Lower 48, those friendships never faded. Angie built another close circle of friends in Idaho through college, her career, and every stage of life. She had a quick wit, loved to laugh, and made the people around her feel as though they belonged.

Above all else, Angie was most proud to be a mom. Her daughters, Sammie Lou and Maggie June, were the center of her world. She constantly reminded them how proud she was of them and never let them doubt how deeply they were loved. She noticed and remembered the little things that most people overlooked, making each of her girls feel uniquely seen. They were her greatest joy.

Losing her mother, Cindie, at a young age was one of the defining experiences of Angie’s life. She carried that loss with her always and wished they had been given more time together.

Angie is survived by her beloved daughters, Sammie Lou Newburn and Maggie June Newburn; her boyfriend, Jared Garitone; her former husband and the father of her daughters, Jake Newburn; her brother, Billy Sheldon; her sister, Jaime (Ben) Haagenson; her nephew, Landon Sheldon; her stepfather, Dan Patton; her grandfather, Earl Sheldon; her aunts, Bonnie (Bud) Sutherland, Terrie Capparelli, and Laura Sheldon; her uncles, David Sheldon and Warren (Laurie) Sheldon; and her cousins, Chrystal Anardi, Renee Fisher, and Kaci Philp.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cindie Patton; her father, William Sheldon; her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Norene Capparelli; her aunt, Debbie Blake; and her cousins, Stephanie Moore and Brian Hodgson.

She leaves behind two daughters who knew without question how deeply they were loved. She reminded them with the words they will carry forever: “I love you more than you’ll ever know.”

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and loved beyond words.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Wallace Elks Lodge. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Angie’s life by sharing stories, laughter, and a meal.
