An Elmo woman died in a crash near Big Arm late last month after she drove in the wrong lane of traffic and hit a semi-truck head on, authorities say.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the June 28 crash in Lake County that killed the 26-year-old woman, according to a Montana Highway Patrol crash report issued Thursday.

The woman was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound in the southbound lane of U.S. 93 at about 6 a.m., when she collided with a southbound Peterbilt commercial truck driven by a 48-year-old Kalispell man, the report states.

The Elmo woman was not wearing a seat belt and died at the crash scene. The truck driver was buckled up and was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson with minor injuries.

Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.
