Peggy Ellen Davis, 74, a native of Troy, Montana, died peacefully (with no pain) of metastatic colon cancer on May 19, 2026, at Wayman Place Assisted Living and Hospice Center in Longwood, Florida.
"Peg" had enjoyed a lifelong love of books, music, M&M's Peanuts and Mountain Dew.
Peg was born on July 26, 1951, at the Davis family homestead on Copper Mountain Road, about five miles south of Troy. She was the fifth of six children born to Vernon Ray Davis and Florence Siothy Osborn Davis. She attended public school and graduated from Troy High School in 1969.
Peg had various jobs after graduating. She worked as a bartender at Troy VFW Post 5541, and at The Mine in Libby, Montana. She was well-known and well-liked by students at Walter F. Morrison Elementary School in Troy, where she worked as a librarian through the 1980s until 1991.
Peg left her hometown of Troy in 1991 to pursue an education in music production at Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts (now Full Sail University) in Winter Park, Florida. She graduated on June 26, 1992, with a degree in Recording Arts, and went to work at Full Sail.
She later served a six-week internship at RCA Records in Los Angeles, Calif., and then she moved to New York City to accept a job at RCA BMG Records overlooking Times Square in Manhattan. She worked in the Artists and Repertoire department, during which time she met many recording industry musicians and stars.
Peg got her name included on the liner notes of several CD albums as a result of her work in the A&R department.
Peg worked in New York City from 1994 to 1997, but she missed Florida, so she returned to Winter Park. She found her ideal job as a Student Services Coordinator at Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts (which became Full Sail University in 2008).
Peg worked at Full Sail from March 30, 1998, until she retired on March 10, 2019. After retiring, she spent a brief time in Nashville, Tennessee, before returning once again to the area around Orlando, Florida, where she remained until her passing.
Peg helped her grand-nephew, Matthew Stapley (formerly of Libby), attend Full Sail Center by providing him with an employee discount for his tuition, and by sharing her apartment with him from 2005 to 2007.
Peg was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Hope Siothy Davis, stillborn in Libby on Nov. 6, 1976; her maternal grandparents, Fred James Osborn (1883-1967) and Eva Milner Osborn (1890-1960); paternal grandparents, George Henry Davis (1865-1952) and Caroline Davis (1876-1924); parents Vernon Ray Davis (1918-1976) and Florence Siothy Osborn Davis (1916-2002); brother Larry Gene Davis (1943-2006); nephew Kelly Gene Davis (1970-1975); nephew Vernon Davis (1976-2013); and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
Peg is survived by her two brothers, Charles Rodney Davis ("Charlie"), and Stanley George Davis, both of Troy; sisters Barbara Ann Pence of Troy, and Carol Jean Latham of Libby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Roosevelt Park Pavilion in Troy. Finger-food trays of lunch meats, buns, veggies, fruits, cookies and bottled water will be provided.
Peg loved music, so musicians are invited to bring their instruments for an impromptu jam session. Call or text Peg's niece, Cheryl Stapley, 406-283-1706, if you have questions.
Peg's Montana family would like to thank staff members at Wayman Place Senior Living and Hospice Center in Longwood, Florida, including Lenesia, head of the nursing station, social worker Tomeka, and chaplain Yola, for their caring, compassion and companionship during Peg's last days; and Funeral Director Sara Fredericks of Tri-County Cremation and Funeral Home, also in Longwood, for her kind assistance with Peg's final arrangements.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peg's name to Wings Regional Cancer Support, which provides support for qualified applicants from Flathead, Lincoln and Lake counties of Montana.
