A Minuteman helicopter heads to the Williams Fire Wednesday, July 8, 2026, on the Kootenai National Forest in Lincoln County. The fire was burning up the Williams Creek drainage at about 5,300 feet elevation, just a bit northwest of Scenery Mountain. Crews were called to two known fires in the south part of the county Wednesday. Another occurred just off the Bull Lake Road when a tree fell on a power line, sparking a small fire.
