Down 10-9 going to the bottom of the fifth, the Flathead’s A’s U17 scored twice off the same stolen base attempt to beat the Calgary Premier Blues 11-10 at the John R Harp Memorial baseball tournament Saturday at Griffin Field.

The tournament continued with five games Saturday, ending with the Kalispell A Lakers beating the Calgary squad 6-5 in the nightcap.

Earlier, the Prairie Cardinals dropped a pair of games, 11-5 to the Black Gold 47s and 19-4 to the ATHX Redhawks. The Redhawks then beat the 47s 12-1.

The tournament concludes Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. championship game. The Lakers and Prairie Cardinals play the 2 p.m. game; The Flathead A’s battle the Redhawks at 9 a.m.

A’s 11, Premier Blues 10

After Liam Ross hit an RBI double to put Calgary up 10-9 in the top of the fifth, the A’s (11-7) answered in their half.

Wyatt Hanchett drew a leadoff walk, went to third when Easton Corbett’s bunt was misplayed for an error and came in when Corbett stole second. The catcher’s throw got away and that allowed Corbett to come all the way round with the winning run.

The game ended early because of time constraints.  Corbett had three hits and scored three times, with two runs batted in. Jaxson Cadwell hit a double and had four RBIs for the A’s.

For Calgary, Cole Burke and Dion Dastou also hit doubles. Wheeler Swan, Burke and Cullen Joyes all drove in two runs.

47s 11, Cardinals 5

Kaleb Janzen’s two-run single capped a three-run first for the Black Gold 47s, and Janzen hit an RBI triple then scored in the second to put his team up 7-1.

Janzen had three hits while Jordan Keane and Braxton Fedorchuk had two hits each at the top of the 47s lineup. Fedorchuck and Owen Lehoux each scored twice and Nathan Prestwich allowed just one hit along with four walks in 5 2-3 innings on the mound. He fanned six.

Ian Tandy had a two-run double for the Cardinals (6-13) out of Post Falls, Idaho.

Redhawks 19, Cardinals 4

The ATHX Redhawks put up 13 runs in the top of third third inning of a game that ended after three under the mercy rule.

Tavin Metcalfe went 4-for-4 with seven RBIs; he hit a two-run single and an RBI base hit in the big inning, which saw 18 men come to the plate and three runs score via bases-loaded walk or hit batter.

Metcalfe also had a two-run single in the first inning and a two-run double in the second. Raif Evans–Anderson also socked a two-run triple in the frame. Declan King drove in three runs and Declan Benson had a triple.

Nathan Prestwich hit an RBI single for the 47s (15-17) in the fourth inning.

Lakers 6, Blues 5

Dustin Gladeau’s two-run single with one out in the sixth inning gave the Kalispell A Lakers a walk-off win that improved them to 2-1 in the tournament.

Blake Paulson and Cameron Sharp singled to start the sixth and final inning, due to time constraints; the Lakers picked up three of seven hits in the inning.

Gladeau drove in three runs and got the win with two innings of relief of starter Madden Carrier. Ian Wilcox tripled and scored in the third inning for Kalispell.

Cooper Snyder tripled and scored to put Calgary (23-25) up 4-3 in the fourth inning; Gladeau’s sacrifice fly tied the game up in the Lakers’ half but Wheeler Swan put Calgary in front again, 5-4, with a single in the sixth.
