Dolores "Doe" Herman, 88, passed away peacefully on June 24. Doe was known as a loving wife and mother, a dear friend with a compassionate heart and always ready to serve others.

Dolores Rae Perry was born in the little town of Dover, Idaho on January 16, 1938. She was proud of her Dover roots and loved to tell stories of growing up with her parents, Mary and Darrell Perry, on the shores of Pend Oreille Lake, fishing with her mom from the Dover bluff, and adventures shared with her siblings Waunita, Arlene, David, Nancy and Paul, and neighborhood families.

As a young adult, Al and Fern Herman moved in next door to her parents' house. Al had a younger brother named Wayne, from Spokane. It did not take long for Wayne to fall in love with the cute little lady next door. The two would marry on June 6, 1959. And so began a beautiful love story, blessed by God, with two hearts committed to love, honor and cherish each other.

Born from that love were Renee, Julie and Dan Herman. While raising their family in the Flathead Valley, Doe and Wayne served as role models who demonstrated how to love others, how to stand up with conviction for things that really matter and bestowed a deep appreciation for God's creations. Their hearts overflowed to many others through the decades, including "adopted siblings" as their kids fondly say.

They gave joy, a sense of belonging and appreciation that touched many lives. Doe and Wayne made many friends along the way: the longest, most endearing were the friendships of Georgia and Henry Larum, and Inga and Bill Myers.

Doe was a daughter's best friend: a moral compass to show the way, not as much by words, but through her actions. She always valued and loved children: Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and parent volunteer. She was an active servant in her church and community.

She loved to do crafts, crochet, give gifts and gardening. The great outdoors often called her and Wayne to hike, fish, camp, hunt and berry pick. Any excuse to go and enjoy nature was an adventure-often times, she outdid her hubby in fishing and hunting.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee and Ed Sievers, grandchildren Max (and Jenn), Susan and Mary Sievers; and daughter Julie and Rick Glenn, grandchildren Shawn Gibson, Kyle Johnson, Michelle Glenn-Undeberg (and Ryan), and Nicky Glenn-Hughes (and Matt) and seven great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, son Daniel (Dan) Herman, many dear friends and family members.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 15 at 2:00 p.m. The location will be announced later.
