Elmo man dies in Sanders County rollover crash

An Elmo man died July 2 in a single-vehicle crash on a gravel road in Sanders County, authorities said.
The 57-year-old was driving a Geo Tracker north on West Road, north of McCallum Road, at 9:17 p.m. when the vehicle began to slide after failing to make a turn, according to a Montana Highway Patrol crash report. The Tracker struck a barbed-wire fence and rolled before coming to rest on its side.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash, the report said. Road conditions were dry.
