The Coeur d'Alene Chorus is celebrating a remarkable year of milestones — and the community is invited to join the celebration.

The chorus will host a special Open House Celebration at 7 tonight at Community United Methodist Church, honoring three extraordinary occasions: the chorus's 40th anniversary, the birthday of founder Sally Wallace, and the 81th anniversary of their parent organization, Sweet Adelines International.

For more than four decades, the Coeur d'Alene Chorus has shared the joy of four-part a cappella barbershop harmony throughout North Idaho. Generations of local residents have enjoyed the chorus's performances and "Sweep Adelines" fundraising at the North Idaho State Fair, while countless holiday visitors have been delighted by the chorus's Victorian Carolers at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

This year's celebration carries special meaning as the chorus honors its founder, Sally Wallace. For more than 53 years, Sally has served this organization and the North Idaho community with a loving heart, unwavering dedication, and an open mind. Although recent health challenges have made her unable to perform, the chorus is dedicating this evening in her honor. Simply put, without Sally Wallace, there would be no Coeur d'Alene Chorus.

"Our story has always been about more than singing," a press release said. "It's about friendship, service, laughter, and creating a place where everyone can experience the joy of harmony."

The community is invited to attend the celebration, meet the members, enjoy an evening of music and memories, and discover what makes the Coeur d'Alene Chorus such a treasured part of North Idaho.
