FIVE SCHOOLS TO BE CLOSED
At Monday’s board meeting of Bonner county school district No. 82, the board took formal action as requested by patrons of five county schools and will close the schools at Dawson, Wrencoe, Thama Ferry, Seneacquoteen and Center Valley. Unless there is a larger than expected enrollment this fall at Cabinet, that school will also be closed. Edgemere school will become a two-teacher school to provide for pupils from Thama Ferry and some from Seneacquoteen. Dawson and Wrencoe pupils will be absorbed by Sandpoint schools, while Center Valley will be transported to Selle. Consolidating these schools will save considerably. In the case of the Wrencoe school, $2,084.06 will be saved.
