Ask someone about the North Idaho State Fair and they'll probably mention the carnival first.

And while the midway is certainly exciting, it's only one part of an experience that surprises many first-time visitors.

Each August, the North Idaho State Fair transforms the fairgrounds in Coeur d'Alene into one of the largest celebrations of agriculture, entertainment, and community in the Inland Northwest. Next, explore the competitive exhibit buildings. The North Idaho State Fair proudly welcomes entries from throughout the northern ten counties of Idaho. Every exhibit represents countless hours of dedication and creativity. 

Throughout the grounds you'll also discover educational exhibits, local businesses, community organizations, demonstrations, shopping, and interactive activities designed for every age.

When it's time for entertainment, you'll have plenty of options. The Gem State Stampede rodeo showcases some of the finest rodeo action in the Northwest, while nightly live music, national performing artist for our Party in the Dirt, family entertainment, and free stage performances keep the fairgrounds buzzing from morning until night.

Of course, no visit would be complete without enjoying the food. Whether it's fresh-squeezed lemonade, roasted corn, barbecue, corn dogs, elephant ears, or a new culinary creation you've never tried before, fair food has become a tradition all its own.

One recommendation? Wear comfortable shoes. Most guests are surprised by just how much there is to see. Between the barns, exhibit halls, vendors, entertainment, concerts, rodeo, and midway, many families spend the better part of an entire day exploring the fairgrounds.
