POLSON — Cody Haggard homered in the first game, Holden Emerson and Noah Agliano hit big flies in the night cap and the Mission Valley Mariners swept the Kalispell A Lakers in a Legion doubleheader Tuesday.

In the first game, Haggard’s three-run shot to left capped a seven-run fifth inning and ended a 13-2 Mission Valley win under the mercy rule. Agliano’s second-inning grand slam was the biggest blow in a 20-5 win in the second game at O’Malley Park, also in five innings.

The opening game saw the Lakers (8-22) trail just 6-2 going to the bottom of the fifth; Blake Paulson doubled in a run for Kalispell in the top of the inning.

Three hits — Brayson DuMont and Tyler Barton hit RBI singles — and two errors led to Haggard’s home run with two out in the Mariners’ half.

Cole Wadsworth scored three times for Mission Valley (18-13), and Emerson hit a pair of doubles. Emerson, Bryson DuMont and Agliano also hit two-baggers.

Meanwhile Liam Jackson was sharp on the mound, allowing four hits, two walks and no earned runs in five innings with nine strikeouts.

In the second game the Lakers jumped out in front with a four-run first, capped by Dustin Gladeau’s three-run home run to left. The Mariners got five runs in their half thanks to six walks sandwiched around a Kalispell error.

The Mariners got eight runs in the second — four walks preceded Agliano’s grand slam, making it 10-5 — and five in the third. Emerson’s three-run homer made it 18-5 in the fourth.

Agliano had five RBIs; Emerson drew three of the 13 walks issued by Lakers pitching and scored four times. Haggard, Bryson DuMont and Agliano each scored three times.

Barton went the distance on the hill, allowing five hits, four walks and no earned runs in five innings. He struck out six.
