Sandra Jean “Sandi” (Hudson) Bunch, 73, passed away on July 13, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. Sandi was born in Richland, Washington, on May 13, 1953.
Sandi married the love of her life, James “Jim” Bunch, on Dec. 18, 1971. Together they built a life centered around family, home, and the many simple joys she made so special.
She is survived by her husband Jim; her son Joshua; her daughter Wendy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Outside of her family, Sandi had three great loves: gardening, quilting and cooking. She transformed her backyard into a beautiful maze of flowering plants, vegetables and fruit trees, and she loved canning the produce she grew. Her home reflected her creativity and care, especially in the bedroom she turned into her fabric room, filled from floor to ceiling with color-coordinated cotton fabric, each piece carefully folded, pinned and marked by size. Over the years, she also created several beautiful hand-quilted quilts that will remain treasured reminders of her patience, talent, and love.
Sandi will be especially remembered by her family for her “Gramma Dora rolls,” a tradition she carried on every holiday from a recipe passed down from her grandmother Dora. She also had a spirit of adventure in the kitchen and would go on annual foreign cooking binges, filling the kitchen with activity, dishes, and wonderful food. One of the family favorites was her Chinese food experience, which left the kitchen looking like a disaster but the meal unforgettable.
Sandi’s life was marked by love, creativity, hard work, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind memories stitched into quilts, planted in gardens, preserved in jars and shared around the family table. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
