For the first time in decades, the museum’s Bicentennial Quilt will be on display, and the public is invited to be a part of this unique experience.

On Thursday, July 16, the Bonner County Historical Society and Museum along with the East Bonner County Library are hosting a special History Exchange presentation. The social hour will start at 4:30 p.m. at the library, 1407 Cedar St., with Susan Moon sharing her remembrances from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

“This large quilt, created in 1976, depicts some of the places and culture that make Bonner County unique, in panels created by local artists and quilting groups,” BCHS Executive Director Hannah Combs said. “During America’s 250th, this event will give you a chance to examine how locals commemorated the nation’s last big anniversary 50 years ago.”

Combs said that she hopes everyone interested will attend Thursday’s event, but if they can’t, the quilt will be permanently on display in the new addition of the library.

BCHS’ mission is to preserve Bonner County’s vibrant legacy by sharing its history and stories through engaging programs, exhibits, and research. In stewarding our local treasures, we spark curiosity, strengthen community bonds, and ensure our legacy thrives for future generations.
