Donald E. Courneya, 87

Donald E. Courneya, age 87, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away July 10, 2026, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho. He was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Standish, Mich., to Ernest and Estelle Courneya.
Donald married Anna Lee Burr on Jan. 9, 1965. Together they raised their only daughter in Beaverton, Mich., and enjoyed 61 years of marriage, traveling with friends and spending time with family. Donald worked as an electrician at Brown Machine in Beaverton, Mich., for 36 years and retired in 2000. In July of 2025, Donald and Anna (Annie) moved to Hayden, Idaho, to be close to their daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife, Anna (Annie); their daughter, Ann Marie (Steve) Sluka; grandchildren: Jacob (Bree Ferguson) Sluka and Michael (Stephanie) Sluka; great-grandchildren: Claira Sluka, Rylen Sluka and Luke Sluka; brothers: Jim (Andi) Courneya of Gladwin, Mich., and Bill (Cheryl) Courneya of Clio, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Donald will always be remembered for his deep devotion to his family. There was nothing that made him happier than watching his great-grandchildren play and laugh.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time in Donald’s hometown.
