BONNERS FERRY — A fast-moving fire Wednesday evening has prompted evacuations in the Tuner Hill area, about 8 miles north of Bonners Ferry.

The fire is estimated at 75 to 100 acres in size. A 20-person crew arrived at the fire shortly after 11 p.m., Idaho Department of Lands officials said.

There is currently one Idaho Department of Lands fire engine on scene with three more on the way. The Idaho Department of Lands and North Bench Fire District are providing Unified Command for the fire.

High winds with gust around 40 miles per hour have resulted in active fire behavior.

The Boundary County Sheriff’s office has issued “Go” evacuation status for the 3000 block of Turner Hill Road east to Highway 95, Holmes Road, Fleming Creek Road, Kings Row, and Fawn Lane along with any of their associated side roads.

The Boundary County Fairgrounds is the designated evacuation center. Please see the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page for any updates on evacuations.
