Northern Lights announces public safety power shutoff

Update: Northern Lights has announced that the shutoff will remain in effect until 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17.
The Northern Lights Electric Cooperative announced a public safety power shutoff scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 16, at 5 p.m. PST.
The company announced that the following areas will be impacted: Troy, Montana area; Yaak area; Lincoln county; Area north of Bonners Ferry to the Canadian border; Mt. Hall area; North Bench; Moyie Springs; Schweitzer Mountain; Sagle and surrounding areas; Cocolalla and surrounding areas; and areas west of Sandpoint; area north of Priest River; Priest Lake area – both sides of the lake; North of Athol.
The cooperative said that power will be temporarily shut off to reduce the risk of wildfires and protect local homes.
