PaddleHeads takes second straight from Range Riders

MISSOULA — Brock Vradenburg collected two hits and an RBI, but the Range Riders couldn't hold an early lead, falling 9-4 to the Missoula PaddleHeads in Pioneer League baseball on Wednesday night at Ogren Park. 

Glacier (29-21) struck first as Kyle Ashworth scored on a throwing error in the opening inning before Vradenburg lined his RBI single to right field, giving the Range Riders a quick 2-0 lead. 

In the bottom half, Missoula (26-22) answered with a run and tied the game in the second on Aric Anderson’s sacrifice fly, scoring Jeremy Piatkiewicz. Glacier reclaimed the lead in the fourth. Carson Hornung smacked a two-run single that scored Carson Garner and Vradenburg for a 4-2 edge. 

The PaddleHeads took over from there. 

After another run in the fourth, Missoula broke through with three in the fifth. Bryce Cermenelli’s second RBI single tied the game, Nich Klemp followed with a RBI single and Enzo Apodaca added another to make it 6-4. 

Missoula put away the game in the seventh with three more runs, capitalizing on three walks and an RBI single from Derick Andiarena. 

Range Riders starter Cole Cressend allowed two runs, one earned, over three innings before Missoula did its damage. Jonah Giblin was charged with four runs in 1 1/3 innnings. 

Vradenburg and Garner each finished with two hits for Glacier. Ashworth added a double and scored once.
